Royal Palace of Caserta
Last advice not least is to visit the majesty of the Royal Palace of Caserta. In 1750 Charles of Bourbon decided to erect the palace as the ideal center of the new kingdom of Naples. The project of the imposing construction was entrusted to the architect Luigi Vanvitelli: construction began in 1752, but in 1773, on the death of the designer, the works were not yet completed. Other architects in the following century completed this grandiose royal residence.
In addition to the opulence and richness of the interior furnishings, the 4 courtyards and the English garden strongly desired by Queen Maria Carolina are interesting, characterized by the presence of plants from different parts of the world: cedars of Lebanon, holm oaks, plane trees, succulents and camellias , planted here for the first time. The Royal Palace also houses the Museum of the Opera and the Territory, where the history of the Royal Factory of Caserta is learned. Site included in the Campania Artecard circuit.
